Adult Literacy Programme Initiated- 20 September 2014
Rotary Club of Chandigarh Mid Town launched Adult Education programme in association with Kundan International School on 4 September 2014. The goal of the Adult Literacy Centre is to improve literacy, resulting in enhanced self- esteem, daily living, and life-long learning. Mrs. Ruchi, B.Tech (Software Engineer) has voluntarily agreed to be a part of the centre and is helping improve the quality of about 25 adults by helping them learn to read, write and comprehend. The distinctive feature of this programme lies in its emphasis on adults’ empowerment, with literacy as an integral component rather than mere literacy skills as an end. Kundan International Adult Education Centre serves as the first urban centre catering to the needs of the economically- challenged section of the society. Mrs Manjeet Jauhar, the Principal extended her whole-hearted support and co-operation to the efforts of the centre. She added, ‘Through the years our efforts will be to Educate, Empower and Enlighten’.
