Kundan International School hosted an inter-school colouring, dancing and fancy dress competition ‘Kids Mania’ with an intention that the children get maximum exposure and benefit. About 10 schools participated in various competitions. These co-curricular activities were organised for the ‘tiny tots’ as these activities help them to be active and participative. They came dressed in vibrant attires and enjoyed being up on the rostrum.

Aarav of Chitkara International School, Samarth of Saupin’s School, Aardhaya of Bhavan Vidyalaya and Anshika of Shemrock School were adjudged winners in the Fancy Dress category. In colouring category, Avni Mukhra of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Gurnoor of Delhi Public School, Shravya of Kundan International School and Avika of New Public School bagged the winning positions.  Dhriti of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Tejal of Mount Carmel School, Lavanya of New Public School, Dakshita and Arpan of Saupin’s School were declared winners in the dancing competition. School Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the confidence and enthusiasm of the ‘tiny brigade’. She lauded the efforts of the winners for displaying a good show and urged upon the students to take part in such activities invariably as they go a long way in the development of the personality.

Kundan International School, Chandigarh celebrated the Investiture Ceremony of its Interact Club. It was attended by many luminaries of the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown. The installation ceremony began with the National Anthem and was followed by speech and poem on national integration. Badges were pinned on the newly elected members of the club. An overview of activities was shown through a presentation. Kundan International School Interact Club in association with the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown conducted a sapling plantation initiative and planted herbal plants in the school’s ‘Herbal Garden’. The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar commended the work done by the students in the previous year and inspired them to work harder and reach new summits. She thanked the members of the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown for undertaking an innovative programme of plantation drive and involving the students in it.

Kundan International School expresses its joyful state on receiving the prestigious ‘Presidential Citation’ from Rotary International. Kundan International School Interact Club received the citation as recognition for its services in the past years. Rotarians from the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown felicitated the school Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar by presenting the citation in a special assembly.  The school Principal expressed her happiness on bagging the award and appealed to the students to strive harder for such achievements in the future. Out of all the schools in Chandigarh, only three schools have received the citation.

The school also bagged the ‘Commendation Citation’ for the support it has rendered to Rotary during 2015-16 in its fight against polio. She thanked the Rotarians on presenting the esteemed citation to the school and recognizing the efforts of the club members. It was a moment of great glory for the school to receive an esteemed award. All in all it was a heartwarming event that brought joy to the school.

Kundan International School organised the Investiture Ceremony for the newly appointed school council 2016-17. The Investiture Ceremony marked a significant beginning of the new academic session. It was a solemn occasion where young student leaders were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. This ceremony reminds all the students of leadership and commitment. The School Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar administered the oath to the appointees, guided them about the challenges these new responsibilities will bring for them and congratulated them. The ceremony concluded with the distinguished school flag being carried with honour, followed by the vibrant flags of the four Houses- Beas, Ganga, Ravi and Yamuna.

Raksha Bandhan is a time to celebrate and cherish the love between brother and sisters. Adding to this tradition, students of the Interact Club of Kundan International School joined hands with the latest trend of ‘Green Tradition’ which is about tying ‘rakhi’ to trees. The young environment lovers tied a ‘rakhi’ thread to the trees planted in the school lawns. This day was celebrated in the school premises with an aim of preserving tees by students of classes Pre- Nursery -X. This occasion was used as an opportunity to promote awareness about importance of trees, environmental balance and sustainable lifestyles. Students celebrated the day with fervor and gaiety. They made handmade ‘rakhis’ as a part of the celebrations.

To mark the importance of this day, a celebration was held in the school. The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by the Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar. Lohri was celebrated with a lot of exuberance and fanfare. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The day began by creating awareness among the students about the significance of the most-awaited Punjabi festival. The students and teachers sang songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. The children had a gala time as they danced around the holy fire. Traditional savories were distributed among the students.

Kundan International School celebrated Grandparents’ Day on 22 December 2015 to felicitate and honour the grandparents of the school children. The students presented a cultural programme and a soul stirring choir dedicated to the grandparents which left them emotional and misty eyed.  Ramp walk by the tiny tots was enjoyed by all grandparents. It was a treat to see the grandparents dancing to the beats of ‘peppy numbers’. The elderly at the event were overwhelmed by the sincere efforts of their grandchildren to make them happy through impressive performances. The Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar in her welcome speech expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all grandparents for their unstinted support and guidance in all the endeavours of the school.  She also reiterated that the younger generation needs to reach out to the senior citizens with empathy as they stand to benefit from the wealth of experience gained by them in their journey of life.

Kundan International School, Chandigarh celebrated its 9th Founder's Day with great ardor. A mesmerizing function entitled 'Incredible India' was showcased by the students of the school. There was festive atmosphere all around and parents were visibly excited to watch their children perform. The program commenced with the welcoming of the Chief Guest, Shri Satya Pal Jain, Ex MP, Senior Advocate and Additional Solicitor General of India. The guests of honour for the event were the Trustees of Shri Kundan Lal Trust and School Managing Committee. The program commenced with lighting of the lamp by the special guests. To invoke the blessings of the Almighty, the girls presented a devotional ‘Saraswati Vandana’. A mellifluous welcome song by students of class I accompanied by the symphonic orchestra and songs by the school choir provided a stupendous beginning to the event. The tiny tots of the pre- primary wing presented ‘Medley of Emotions’ with their spectacular array of dances on different songs. Annual Report, by the school principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar gave an account of the milestones carved by the Kundanites in various fields.  The function's theme- Incredible India took the viewers on a mesmerizing journey. 

 

The students of class II presented ‘Graceful Dogri’ dance taking us all to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Goan Dance’ by students of class III enthralled the audience. Moving ahead with the function’s theme, diversity in India was best portrayed by the rhythmic movements and subtle gestures of the students of class IV and V with ‘Earthy Feel’ and ‘Cultural Festivity’ respectively. Girls of class VI captivated the audience with their ‘Rhythmic Lavani Dance whereas the boys of class VI presented their martial art form with ‘Traditional Naga Dance’.  The love and devotion towards ‘Lord Ganesha’ was showcased by the students of class VII with their dance performance on ‘Life of Devotion’. The students of class VIII enraptured the audience with their dance ‘Melange’ presenting unity in diversity. A play titled ‘Karz Kritigyata Ka’ depicted gender discrimination and was presented by students of class IX and X.  The ‘bhangra team’ danced to the ‘bhangra beats’ and made everyone sway their bodies and tap their foot. The Chief Guest addressed the audience and his insightful speech won many hearts. Vote of thanks was presented by the Manager of the school, Mrs. Sneh Mahajan. The exhilarating show was an unforgettable experience and left a lasting impression on the minds of everyone present.

CBSE in collaboration with Oracle Academy took the initiative to train teachers in Java Fundamentals, Green Foot and Eclipse to sharpen their proficiency in Information Technology and enhance their technical skills. Kundan International School hosted a three day workshop entitled ‘Oracle Academy: Java Fundamentals’ in collaboration with CBSE for teachers of the North zone. This course will help teachers develop invaluable technical, business and professional skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. This would help schools receive a world-class program with professional training, instructional resources and support that helps students succeed in the careers of tomorrow. In these three days, teachers were given practical hands on experience in Java Fundamentals which can be used by the teachers for more effective classroom teaching along with other conventional teaching methods and tools. The resource person,       Mrs. Purnima Bansal from Oracle Academy trained the educators during the workshop. Around 30 teachers from different schools of North zone participated in the workshop. The Oracle Academy workshop at school prepared educators to introduce programming concepts into a variety of subject lessons within the classroom. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar said, “With today's competitive global economy, students need every opportunity to get ahead. Teachers must continue building their skills to lead students on their path to careers.” She applauded the efforts of the teachers and the global initiative taken by the Oracle Academy.

The amalgamation of curricular and co-curricular activities proves to be the best option when it comes to teaching students in an interactive way. Visiting a doll museum could be a joy of different sort. The students of class I, II and III of Kundan International School were taken to the International Dolls Museum in Sector 23, Chandigarh. The museum which has the finest collection of dolls and puppets from all over the world was fascinating for the students. They were enthralled on seeing the variant art of more than 28 countries. The students learnt a lot about culture and dresses of people across the world. They also got to know about different countries and their dresses. It was a learning experience and good outing for the students along with their teachers.

Aayush of Bhavan Vidyalaya School, Sector 33, Chandigarh secured the first position in the Fancy Dress category. In colouring category, Sanchita from St. Mary’s School, Sector 46, Chandigarh was adjudged the winner. Aalya from Bhavan Vidyalaya School, Sector 33, Chandigarh stood first in the dancing competition. Aanya from Gurukul Global School, Manimajra became the winner of the singing competition. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauahr appreciated the confidence and enthusiasm of the ‘tiny brigade’. She added that talents are the treasurers of life and the hidden talents and abilities when developed and utilized properly can do miracles.

The school council marched on the beats of the band and the thumping of the march- past reverberated in the grounds of the school. Badges were presented by the School Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar. She advised the students to always be optimistic, positive and to consider anything new as a learning experience. The newly appointed student council took an oath to live up to the expectations and work in sync with the mission of the school. We at Kundan International School recognise the importance of good home-school links through partnership with parents. We cannot educate our children without reaching out to their parents. When schools and families work together, children have a far better chance of not only being successful in school but being successful in life as well. In a bid to do our bit to build a greener India, the school has partnered with a parent, Mrs. Rakhi Agarwal who came and distributed more than 35 saplings to the students who celebrate their birthday in the month of August. The students were more than happy to receive the sapling and expressed their joy with a bright smile on their faces. She felt elated on starting this endeavour at school and wished to work upon this in the coming years. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar felt exultantly proud and joyful about the initiative and expressed great concern over the alarming issue of ‘saving the environment’.

A team of doctors comprising of pediatrician, dentist, etc. volunteered their time for the camp and provided free assistance to the students. With the advent of the month of August, all of us are filled with a zeal and enthusiasm to express the feeling of unity and secularism as we participate in the celebrations for our country. To this effect, the students and teachers of Kundan International School worked with great zeal and presented a wonderful and vibrant show on the occasion of Independence Day and lighted the candle of patriotism. The National Flag, the pride of our nation was hoisted by Mrs. Sneh Mahajan, Manager and the Principal Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar. The presentation was truly enthralling as our young children displayed their talents. The acting was stupendous and their speaking skills were highlighted beautifully through a drama titled ‘Swachh Bharat’.  The celebrations included patriotic songs, poems western dance and bhangra. It was a rich learning experience for the students who cherished the value of freedom and patriotism. The Principal in her address to the students said, “Freedom is a gift, a privilege and a challenge. It does not consist in doing what one wants to do but doing what is expected to do.”

Investiture ceremony is one of the most important events of any school. On 22nd July 2015, a solemn ceremony was conducted in Kundan International School wherein the newly elected student leaders took charge of their offices. The ceremony was held with lots of enthusiasm and gusto. All the students were made aware of the unique election process and familiarized about democracy. Our newly elected Students Council members took an oath in front of the whole school to be true to their posts and duties assigned to them. The newly elected council members pledged to work earnestly and keep the school’s motto of ‘Truth, Love and Efficiency’ in high esteem. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar congratulated the members on their success and advised them to always be optimistic, to be positive in life and to consider anything new as a learning experience. She stressed on the need to become more focused in life and to always work with full commitment.

To mark the onset of ‘Monsoon Season’, fun activities were conducted for the Pre Primary wing of Kundan International School. The season of joy, delighted the students as they welcomed raindrops by singing and walking in the rain with their multi hued umbrellas. Outdoor activities are certainly enjoyed by the tiny tots as they help them to develop their fine and gross motor skills. ‘Green’ being the colour of the month was celebrated as they took a walk in the lush green lawns of the school and observed greenery around them. They came dressed to school in different shades of green outfits.

To give the scorching heat a chase, ‘Ice Cream Day’ was celebrated in Kundan International School. Ice cream is a summer time favourite for people of all ages. However, kids are extremely fond of it. Art of Living workshop was conducted in the school by The Art of Living Foundation for students of class III to VIII. The aim of the workshop was to provide students with an insight over their own minds and bodies. The workshop made them aware on how to live a stress free life and remain harmonious and peaceful even in conditions that do not go into their stride. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the good work done by the organization by organizing such an enriching workshop at school which taught the children to remove all negativity from their lives and live their life in such a way that no unhappiness ever permeates the atmosphere around them.

Co - curricular activities are a form of informal education, which cannot be ignored. Holistic development of students can't be achieved just by imparting academics. The aim of curricular activities is to make the students fit for the future time and to develop a sense of competitive spirit, co-operation, leadership, diligence, punctuality, team-spirit as well as to provide a backdrop for the development of their creative talents.

 With an aim of developing practical knowledge, the students of Kundan International school are taken out of the school to the areas of adventure- swimming pool and sand pit area. Various stimulating activities that provide fun and learning at the same time are part of the curriculum for pre- primary classes. Splash pool party was an extremely enjoyable time for the children. The sportive little ones enjoyed the splash activity to beat the heat of the scorching sun. They put their swim-suits on and enjoyed the water games. The students also have fun in the sandpit area which is a great opportunity for social, emotional and language development of the students. While playing in the sand children spend hours digging, building, scooping, carrying, molding, and scraping. Playing in the sand provides opportunities for the children to develop their muscles when they dig, shovel, lift, carry, and rake. These activities help in developing the gross and motor skills of the children.

Sachin Garg of class IX brought laurels to the school yet again with his fabulous stint in the 1st SSKFI Karate championship organised by Shotokan Karate Do Federation (India) at Varanasi. He secured bronze medal and performed fairly well in the championship. Children from 16 states participated in the championship and showed their physical and mental strength. All over India, Chandigarh team secured the second position. Through such events, students are continually reinforced with the ideas of self-discipline, respect, modesty, dependability, sportsmanship and teamwork! Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar congratulated him and motivated other students of the school to keep working hard for attaining such heights.

Labour Day was celebrated at Kundan International School, Chandigarh by organising a special assembly on 1st May 2015. The students conducted the assembly and threw light on the importance of ‘Labour’ through songs, poems and speeches. Various games and other recreational activities were organised for them on this special day. To celebrate the Girls in ICT Day, Kundan International School in association with Oracle Academy organized ICT programme for girls of class VII to X of the school. The girls interacted with Oracle Women Leaders through video conferencing and utilized their time optimally for hands on experience on session on Alice. The initiative aims to empower and encourage girls to pursue studies and careers in ICT by providing an insight into diverse careers in the field of ICT. The programme introduced them to simple concepts of gaming and programming with Alice. The girls invited to participate in a variety of events should be able to see for themselves the tremendous possibilities which the ICT sector includes for them and their future. About 105 participants from Chandigarh, Delhi, Roorkee, Hyderabad, Kathmandu, Bangalore and Moscow took part in this initiative. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar expressed her sincere gratitude towards this major initiative by Oracle Academy in making the girls future ready and enhancing digital literacy among them.

In an emotionally surcharged atmosphere, a grand farewell function was held at the school campus of Kundan International School.  A number of events were organized to mark this nostalgic moment which would go down the memory lane of the outgoing students of class X in the years to come. The outgoing students thanked the teachers for their endearing efforts in shaping up the destiny of a child and for being there with them throughout their school life. Rudraksha Kalia and Akanksha were crowned Mr. and Ms. Kundan International. The students danced to their heart’s content to the music belted out by the DJ. Many were seen clicking pictures of friends and teachers- thus trying to capture memories of school forever. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar blessed the students and spoke to them about the need to be focused and true to oneself. She asked them to tread on the oath of truth and humanity.

Annual Sports Day is an important event in the life of every school.  Sports themselves have a vital role in making a child sound physically as well as mentally. Kundan International School organised its Annual Sports Meet 2015 on February 13, 2015 for junior and senior wing. Dr. (Mrs.) Shashi Jain, Manager of the school took the salute and then the oath ceremony was held. In the opening ceremony the audience witnessed a wonderful show displaying the prowess of gymnastics and martial arts by the students. It was a pleasure to watch the March Past by Four Houses contingents namely Ganga, Yamuna, Beas and Ravi led by their house captains. The students left everyone spellbound with their athletic shows, drills, gymnastics and martial arts. The students took part in special fun races that got the crowd on their feet, cheering the winners. Parents of students witnessed the spectacular event. There was a fun game for the parents too. Winners were awarded with medals. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the efforts of the students and motivated them to work with the same zeal and vigour in life. She motivated the students to take part in games enthusiastically and whole heartedly.

Student of the Year Prize Distribution ceremony was organised in the school by Life Insurance Corporation of India Chandigarh Division to celebrate the achievements of young Kundanites who have attained excellence in academic and co-curricular spheres through dedicated hard work and perseverance. Felicitation ceremony conducted in the school not only serves to motivate the students to surpass their own performance but also spurs on their peers to attain similar heights. She performed exceptionally well and bagged the third position. More than 24 schools participated in the competition. Budding singer of the school floored the audience with her stint at solo singing. Kundan International School hosted Football Challenger Cup at school on 30th and 31st January 2015. The grounds reverberated with feverish enthusiasm as the tempo set in with the teachers and the students excitedly cheered for all participating teams, voicing the spirit of oneness among all. The school was abuzz with talented players and cheerful audience. As many as 15 schools of Chandigarh participated in the championship and secured various positions. League matches for three teams were conducted. Each team played 2 matches in which the host school, Kundan International School beat St. Kabir’s School by 4-0 and Saupin’s School by 2-1.  Saupin’s School beat St. Kabir’s School by 1-0. Kundan International School scored the first position, Saupin’s school took away the 1st runners up trophy and St. Kabir’s School secured the 2ndrunners up position. Kundan International School, Chandigarh, celebrated Republic Day at school with fervour and gaiety. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school. The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by the School Manager, Dr. (Mrs.) Shashi Jain. The school echoed with patriotic fervour as the children, sang patriotic songs, presented speeches and performed various dances.
The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland.  Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar, the school principal, congratulated the staff and students on this auspicious occasion and motivated them to march ahead with the changing times and strive relentlessly towards their goal. Kokuyo Camlin Teachers Summit was organized at Kundan International School for the teachers of Art in Chandigarh and Mohali. Demonstrations were given by Mr. Ravinder Sharma from Chandigarh College of Arts. Ms. Kiran Malhotra, SAT Manager from Kokuyo Camlin, Delhi conducted the workshop. It was a great learning experience for teachers of various schools. Innovative ideas of the teachers could be seen in alluring artwork made by them. As many as 30 teachers participated in the workshop and made spectacular pieces of art. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar praised the teachers for their skills at art and portrayal of picturesque paintings and drawings.

“Basant Panchami” is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. This day was celebrated in Kundan International School with great fervour and enthusiasm. Yellow colour – representative of spiritual knowledge was the flavour of the day. The children of the pre – primary wing came dressed in yellow clothes and also brought yellow coloured food in their tiffins. A workshop on ‘Paper Craft’ was conducted by school teacher Ms. Suman for parents of Kundanites They learnt the art of gluing and pasting and built wonderful paper craft articles. Children were seen celebrating the day in a jubilant mood with their parents. Kite flying was also organised for parents and students. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar said that such activities break the monotony of the academic life for students and they get an opportunity to discover varied cultures and traditions.

Around 100 students of Kundan International School took out a rally to raise awareness about safe driving on road. Students carried placards, charts, banners and road safety signs to make people aware. The rally was taken out as part of the 26th Road Safety Week celebrations, which commenced on January 11, with this year’s theme being Safety is not just a slogan, it is a way of life. They also educated the people not to drive without helmets or to talk on mobile phone while driving. Principal Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the efforts of the children in displaying their creativity through placards which they carried through the rally. She encouraged the students to follow traffic rules and support such initiatives.

Lohri was celebrated at Kundan International School with a lot of exuberance and fanfare. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The students and teachers sang songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. Pupils at Kundan International School joined hands with the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown towards Children for Children Programme to raise awareness about Polio. Students of Class III to VII took part in this initiative and pledged to fight end polio. They were shown a motivational video clipping on Polio and measures to end this crippling disease forever. Members of the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown, Dr. (Mrs.) Rita Kalra (Vice President), Mr. Salil Bali (Secretary), Mr. Ashok Puri (Rotarian) and Dr. (Mrs.) Shashi Jain (Manager, Kundan International School) attended the programme and extended support towards the event. Principal Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar thanked the Rotarians for undertaking this incredible work to eradicate polio and create awareness amongst students of the school about this highly infectious disease.

CBSE in collaboration with Oracle Academy has taken the initiative to train teachers in Alice to sharpen their proficiency in Information Technology and enhance their technical skills. Kundan International School is hosting a three day workshop entitled ‘Oracle Academy Alice Workshop’ in collaboration with CBSE for teachers of the North zone. Mr. R.J. Khanderao, Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula  appreciated the efforts of  Oracle academy  and said “ This course will help  teachers develop invaluable technical, business and professional skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. This would help schools receive a world-class program with professional training, instructional resources and support that helps students succeed in the careers of tomorrow”. In these three days, teachers will be given practical hands on experience in Alice which can be used by the teachers for more effective classroom teaching along with other conventional teaching methods and tools.  Teachers who are being trained by the resource person of Oracle have found the guidance very effective, meaningful and enriching. An amalgamation of corporate training and school teaching is most definitely the most challenging teaching method. The resource person Mrs. Kamal Deep Peter, Senior Program Manager, Oracle Academy trained the educators during the workshop. Around 40 teachers from different schools of North zone are participating in the workshop. The Oracle Academy workshop at school prepared educators to introduce programming concepts into a variety of subject lessons within the classroom. Kundan International School organized a fun-filled 'Baby Show' which showcased the hidden talents and antics of the children. More than 60 children were seen enjoying the hustle bustle at school. The “Baby Show” aimed to unfold the endearing qualities amongst the kids and develop a vision and streamline parents efforts and approach towards a healthy living. There were many exciting and fun-loving competitions for the babies at the show Paediatrician Dr. (Mrs.) Rita Kalra conducted health check up and Nutrition awareness was provided to parents by her. Children, who participated, were given the titles of Most Healthy Baby, Most Active Baby, Best Dressed Baby and so on. Surprise gifts and certificates were given to all participants. Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar, Principal, Kundan International School, warmly welcomed the audience for being a part of the event. In her keynote address, she emphasized on the importance of parenting and nurturing children in a right manner. The hush corridors, lush green lawns and serene atmosphere of Kundan International School, Chandigarh became lively with the reverberating sounds of the Founder's Day 2014. The dignitaries lit the lamp.  Mrs. Daman Dugal, former principal and renowned educationist graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  The programme was attended by the Trustees of Shri Kundan Lal Trust and members of the School Managing Committee. To invoke the blessing of the Almighty, the girls presented Saraswati Vandana. The theme of the function was 'Panch Tatva'.  Budding singers presented the school choir and orchestra. The tiny tots of the Pre-Primary section showcased their spectacular dance titled 'Srishti kay Swaroop' and showed everyone how props, music and dance can escalate everyone’s happiness. Annual Report of the school was presented by the Principal. The students of class I enthralled everyone with 'Koli Dance'. Class II presented 'Jal Tarang'.

The students of class III took everybody to the traditional side as the girls presented a spectacular dance on the tune of the Gayatri Mantra and the boys depicted the thunderous and energetic 'Shiv Tandav'. India’s diversity was brought forward by the students of class IV and V with 'Ghoomar' and 'Cosmic Harmony' respectively. Drama titled 'Paani Bin Jeevan Nahi' sensitized about the importance of water and how it can be conserved. The students of class VI, VII and VIII enraptured the audience with their enthralling dance where the girls performed and showcased 'air' as a major component of human survival with their dance 'Udaan'. The highlight of the show  'Shadow Dance- Ek Soch' depicted gender discrimination.  The boys left a lasting effect on the audience with 'Robotics Dance'. The bhangra beats presented by students of class IX and X made everyone sway their bodies and tap their feet. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar extolled the teachers and students for their untiring efforts. She thanked the parents for always being supportive. The show concluded with the vote of thanks by the Manager of the school, Dr. (Mrs) Shashi Jain.

Run For Unity

The National Unity Day was observed with enthusiasm by Kundan International School, Chandigarh in accordance with the guidelines sent by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The day commenced with a special assembly for students of class I and above. An awareness on the life and times of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was created amongst the students during the assembly. The students of class I and above took part in the “Run for Unity” event organised to celebrate National Unity Day on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. They enjoyed the flavour of the spirit of nationalism and administered the National Unity Pledge. Principal, Mrs. Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the efforts of the students towards the event that reflected the unity in cultural diversity.

The last day of October, had a special significance for tiny tots of Kundan International School as they celebrated Halloween Day at school today. Students came dressed in ghostly costumes and knocked on doors of other classrooms shouting “Trick or Treat!” Pirates and princesses, ghosts and witches all held bags open and distributed candies and other goodies. Pumpkin being the symbol of Halloween was carved into scary faces by students. The major objective behind celebrating this unique day was to explain the importance of festivals and different cultures, and how celebration can be a passageway to the most profound aspects of life. Celebrations for Kundanites have become an integral part of joyful learning, community building and thought provoking processes.

As part of Swachh Bharat, 'Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyaan' students of Kundan International School, Chandigarh along with their teachers and support staff members initiated a cleanliness drive at school and cleaned their premises, classrooms, playground and surroundings, besides taking pledge to give due priority to cleanliness. Special assemblies and talks were organised to make students aware about the different aspects of cleanliness and hygiene. Students participated whole-heartedly in poster making activity on the theme 'Swachh Bharat'. They drew wonderful posters and presented a picturesque view of their ideas and conviction towards this noble cause of keeping their surroundings clean and green.

 

The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar applauded the efforts of the students who participated enthusiastically in this initiative to keep their school and surroundings clean. She motivated the students, teachers and workers to support this initiative and help make India clean. She said that the school is committed to provide clean and healthy environment.

Kundan International School organised a havan in its premises to mark the birth anniversary celebration of its Founder, Shri Kundan Lal ji and to invoke the Almighty’s blessings. The havan was attended by members of the management, staff and students. The havan began with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra followed by other mantras.  The students took part in the havan whole-heartedly and took a pledge to follow the path of humanity, piety, truth and peace. The havan ended with an ‘arti’ and ‘prasad’ distribution. Mrs Manjeet Jauhar, Principal of the school, urged the students to work with more devotion and dedication. She advised the students to walk down the right path and to strive for the best in life.

Kundan International School, Chandigarh organized a week long computer awareness programme for parents to build awareness of computer potential and to strengthen the relationship of the School Community. The parents enthusiastically participated and showed their keen interest in all the activities including applications of computer like MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, Internet, etc.  The aim was to provide a greater opportunity for interaction between society and the school, leading to a better understanding of the technological infrastructure. Effective perception of teaching computers is an important factor in making teaching and learning situation effective as these are true indicators of providing value based education in the school. At Kundan International School, Teachers’ Day was a day of thanksgiving for the teachers who have selflessly guided the children in their journey. The Student Council had put together an awe-inspiring show for their teachers. The wonderful and touching programme definitely helped all the students to better appreciate and thank their teachers for not only academically guiding them, but also in moulding their character. The teachers certainly enjoyed themselves and were moved by their students’ love. After all the jubilation, the students and teachers watched the live telecast of PM Narendra Modi’s speech which was followed by an interactive session. The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar thanked all the teachers for the hard work and energy they put into their job so as to make each student successful! The programme ended on a note of commitment by the students and staff to work towards taking the school to Greater Heights.

Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown launched Adult Education Programme in association with Kundan International School in Sector 46. The Kundan International Adult Education centre would be the first urban centre catering the needs of the candidates coming from nearby areas, informed President Rotarian RTPS Tulsi. The club has identified 30 adults from economically- challenged background for the programme as a part of the Rotary’s nation wide endeavour to combat illiteracy. Educational kits were handed over to the identified adults. Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown is already running two adult Education centres in Village Jagatpura and Village Nayagoan respectively. The Rotarians made the parents understand the value of being functionally literate. The main aim of the project is to engage adults in systematic and sustained learning activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values. Manager of the School, Dr Mrs Shashi Jain motivated the parents and instilled confidence in them to be educated. The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar appealed the parents to join hands with the club in such a noble cause and become future ready!

3rd Chandigarh State Chi Kwang Do Martial Art Championship 2014-15 was held at Kundan International School. Around 200 students participated from across 15 schools and academies. Kundan International School bagged the 2nd position overall and came out with flying colours! It is a pleasurable moment for the school to announce this news. The proud parents appreciated the school’s efforts of always encouraging students to participate and come out victorious. The students seemed enthralled at their success.

 Kundan International School, Chandigarh organised a workshop on Time and Stress Management for the faculty and students of Class VII-X. Mr K S Chatwal from The Times of India conducted the workshop and covered wide range of topics, including stress management, art of happiness and goal setting. During the course of the workshop, Mr Chatwal explained that meditation is not only for the old people but is important to get peace at any phase of life. He also informed the students about the side effects related to taking stress. The workshop was summed up with a question and answer session. In the concluding session of the programme, the Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar extended a vote of thanks to the guest for the enlightening workshop. She said that such kind of workshops help to increase teacher’s and student’s knowledge and acquaint them with the ways of increasing their learning and retention power.

To inculcate in the hearts of young Interactors the virtue of leadership, benevolence and forbearance, Kundan International School held an Investiture ceremony of the Interact Club Office Bearers for the year 2014-15 on August 26, 2014. Members of the Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown, Dr Mrs Rita Kalra (Vice President) and Mr Salil Bali (Secretary) graciously presided over the ceremony and pinned on the badges of office. The achievements of the club in the previous year were shown through a Power Point Presentation. The elected Office Bearers for the coming year are Jyoti Sharma (President), Akanksha Anand (Secretary), Vipul Katyal (Treasurer), Sachin G. Gawalli (Vice President), Himanshu Sharma(Sergeant in Arms), Riya Bansal (Joint Secretary),  Ruchi Jain, Tanusha Sarna, Sangeeta Gupta and Vandana Gupta (Director). Dr (Mrs) Shashi Jain, Manager of the school attended the ceremony and appreciated the good work done by the Interactors. The Rotarians motivated the students to perform better. The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar asked the Interactors to work for the needy with their utmost devotion. She appealed the children to be sensitive towards the underpriviledged section of the society and at the same time focus towards their own development. With this aim in mind, a workshop by SIP Academy which is South- East Asia’s fastest growing children’s skills development company on the topic ‘Making our Children Future Ready’ was organised in the school premises with the objective of ensuring parents involvement in children’s learning and strategizing them to help their children become well- equipped and engaged citizens of our country. More than 70 parents attended the workshop and benefitted from it. The Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar appreciated the efforts of the parents for sparing their valuable time towards the workshop.

Students of Kundan International School, Sector 46, Chandigarh participated in Jashan-E-Azadi 2014 Inter- School Group Song competition held at St. Joseph’s School, Sector 44, Chandigarh. Kundanites lifted the Consolation trophy in the competition in which more than 15 schools across the tri-city had showcased their aptitude.  The budding singers floored the audience with their talent and presented a Musical Bonanza.  The co-ordination, melody and lyrics were worthy of applause. Along with academics, Kundan International School, Chandigarh encourages children to participate in different co-curricular activities which boosts their confidence and gives them a platform to exhibit their hidden talents. A Fancy Dress Competition for Pre-Primary section was organized at Kundan International School on13 Aug 2014. The theme of the competition was ‘Janamshtami’. It was an occasion to remember and a day to cherish. Children took everybody present to the land of Lord Krishna and kept everyone enthralled. Children came dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha, Gopi, Yashoda, Sudama and many more. The competition was judged by the parents of some of our students to ensure impartial judgement. The programme was concluded by the Principal, Mrs. ManjeetJauhar , extolling the interest, discipline, creativity and the sense of participation and also eulogized the efforts of the teachers and students in making the program a great success. The interest taken by the parents was evident in the costumes of the children. The enthusiasm and zeal with which the children participated and performed was extremely commendable.

We usually see people celebrating Rakha Bandhan to celebrate and maintain a good relation between brother and sister. Adding to this tradition, students of the Interact Club of Kundan International School joined hands with the latest trend of ‘Green Tradition’.’ Green Rakhi Campaign’ or ‘Vriksh Rakhsha Bandhan’ which is about tying rakhi to trees was celebrated in the school premises with an aim of preserving trees. The young environment lovers tied a ‘Vriksh Bandhan’ thread to the trees planted in the school. This occasion was used as an opportunity to promote awareness about importance of trees, environmental balance and sustainable lifestyles. Students celebrated the day with fervour and gaiety that one usually associates with this auspicious occasion. Combined efforts of the Principal, Mrs Manjeet Jauhar, teachers and students succeeded in catalysing feelings of care and affection between the humans and the environment.

Saawan, the season of joy, happiness and delicious servings excited the students of Kundan International School. The tiny tots welcomed the raindrops by singing songs and walking in the rain with their colourful umbrellas. Pre Primary section was abuzz with this activity. Nature walk in the lush green gardens of the school enthralled the students.  The  activity  was  planned  with  emphasis on  development  of  physical,  emotional,  mental  and  cognitive  skills. Colourful umbrellas  were  seen  all  around. Children had a great time playing and dancing in rain. Learning by doing helped in vocabulary building where children learnt words like monsoon, raincoat, raindrops, drizzling, gumboots, umbrellas, etc.
